As many as 127 out of the 327 civil police sub-inspector trainees who passed out of the Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) are engineering graduates who possess a BE degree.

Part of the 46th batch of the academy, they graduated in a ceremony held at the academy on Sunday (March 29). They underwent 14 months of training, which began in January 2025.

While 143 trainees have completed their graduation in different streams, another 56 are postgraduates who possess a Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSc), or Master of Social Work (MSW). One trainee has completed Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS).

While 79 newly inducted police sub-inspectors are in-service police personnel, 12 are ex-servicemen, and 30 are in other government services. A total of 206 members are freshers, according to KPA. 

Meanwhile, 90 out of the 327 trainees are women and 237 are men. When it comes to marriage, a whopping 254 are bachelors.

Age group

While 190 trainees, including 138 men and 58 women, belong to the youngest age group, that is, 25 to 29 years, 80 trainees, including 61 men and 19 women, belong to the 30–34 age group.

Another 34 trainees, including 22 men and 12 women, belong to the 35–39 age group, while 16 trainees, including 15 men and one woman, are in the 40–44 age group. One male trainee belongs to the 45–50 age group.

While Belagavi accounted for the highest number of trainees at 51 (of the total 327 trainees), Kodagu and Udupi had the least representation at one each.

The other districts that accounted for a high number of trainees were Bagalkot and Vijayapura, with 31 and 33 respectively. Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada accounted for just two trainees each while Bengaluru Rural and Dharwad accounted for three trainees each.
