Toronto police announced Wednesday that seven people, including three Canadian Armed Forces members were facing 82 charges following a kidnapping investigation that expanded into firearms and drug offences. Police alleged a man was abducted at gunpoint near Finch and Bayview avenues in July, handcuffed and assaulted as suspects tried to access his cryptocurrency assets, then released and threatened not to contact police. Searches across the GTA uncovered four firearms, including two with 3D printed components, two silencers, 10 overcapacity magazines, methamphetamine, cocaine and more than 2,700 rounds of ammunition, roughly half of which were blanks. Investigators alleged approximately 2,500 rounds and five magazines were stolen from the Canadian Armed Forces, police said the investigation remained ongoing and raised concerns about the military training of three accused.
