Andoni Iraola has just left Bournemouth and the Spaniard's representatives have already been approached by AC Milan, who was on the lookout for their next manager

Andoni Iraola has been approached by AC Milan with the Italian giants sounding out his representatives following his Bournemouth exit.

Iraola's departure was announced several months ago but the Spaniard ended his three-year spell on a high as he led the Cherries into Europe for the first time in their history. His style drew plenty of plaudits throughout his time on the south coast.

As a result a number of clubs are keen on landing his services with Milan making moves just 24 hours after the Premier League came to an end. Iraola was among those linked with the Manchester United job following Ruben Amorim's sacking and has also been eyed by Crystal Palace.

In Germany, Bayer Leverkusen have also expressed an interest but Milan are looking to steal a march by hiring the Spaniard, who is still to prove himself as a big club.

The Italian outfit have just axed Max Allegri after missing out on the Champions League and have now sounded out Iraola, reports Sky Sports. Milan lost seven of their final 14 games whilst they had to watch rivals Inter win their second Serie A title in three seasons.

A statement from their owners, American investment group RedBird Capital, read: "The final stretch was completely inconsistent with the performance up to that point, with last night's disappointing loss in the final game turning the season into an unequivocal failure. It is now time for change and a comprehensive reorganization of football operations."

Chief executive Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare and technical director Geoffrey Moncada have also left the club as part of wholesale changes.

Iraola left Bournemouth by going on an 18-match unbeaten run, which ultimately saw them finish sixth. “I knew it would be almost impossible to get Europe but the owner told me we want to stay in the Premier League, but I wanted Europe," he said after his final game on Sunday.

“For me to finish this season giving back to the owner, players, supporters, this European qualification is just one way of thanking everyone.”
