Question period was filled with 'Seinfeld'-related quips on Thursday, as opposition leader Pierre Poilievre questioned whether Carney would achieve anything of substance in the ongoing Canada-EU summit in Montreal. “Will the prime minister actually get anything real done at this big grand summit?” Poilievre asked, “Or is this just another Seinfeld Summit? A meeting about nothing.” In lieu of Carney, Minister of Transportation Steven MacKinnon responded, “If anyone would know anything about Seinfeld is that leader who wakes up every day and lives the same recurring nightmare every single day,” before going on to outline Carney’s ongoing efforts to diversify trade beyond the United States. Poilievre said the recurring nightmare is “for the Canadian people who can’t afford to pay their grocery bills, whose mortgage payments just went up yesterday because of deficit spending by this government,” likening Carney’s actions to the character George Costanza, who’s trying to “look busy.” “This guy talks like Kramer, he just walks into the room every time and says something weird!” MacKinnon said.
