Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayApple TV has dropped the trailer for Lucky, the upcoming “pulse-pounding new limited series” starring Last Night in Soho star Anya Taylor-Joy and created by Jonathan Tropper, based on the Marissa Stapley book of the same name.
Additional cast members include Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr. and William Fichtner.
Lucky sees Taylor-Johnson star as Lucky, a con-artist who “is forced to go on the run” after “a multi-million-dollar heist goes sideways.”
“Pursued by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, Lucky must fight for her life — and a way out.”
Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter hold production credits, alongside pilot director Jonathan van Tulleken and Taylor-Johnson herself, and the show will run for seven episodes, available every Wednesday.
Stapley’s book was originally published in 2021 but experienced a “…’slow start’, as Stapley puts it,” as reported in The Globe and Mail.
“It wasn’t until late 2021, when the title was announced as the December Reese [Wetherspoon]’s Pick [for her book club], that ‘everything changed’.”
This is Taylor-Johnson’s seventh television role, following Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit and The Jim Henson Company’s The Dark Crystal. Her recent film credits include The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as Princess Peach, Romain Gavras’ Sacrifice as part of an ensemble cast, Scott Derrickson’s The Gorge as Drasa and George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga as Furiosa.
Taylor-Johnson is also set to appear in Dune: Part Three by Denis Villeneuve, reprising her role of Alia Atreides. Trooper is also credited as the writer for Your Friends and Neighbours, The Adam Project and the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter.
Lucky hits Apple TV on July 15th.
