Several British Airways crew members have been suspended after a Barbados to London flight was cancelled amid allegations they got drunk before departure

A British Airways flight from Barbados to London was cancelled after crew members allegedly got drunk at a hotel just hours before departure.

Flight BA254 had been due to leave Bridgetown at 4.25pm local time on Sunday and arrive at London Heathrow at 6.15am on Monday. Up to 336 passengers were affected by the cancellation.

The Press Association reports a number of BA crew members have been suspended while an investigation is carried out.

The Sun reported the crew members had been involved in a “vodka and beer session” at a hotel before the scheduled flight. The newspaper claimed one female cabin crew member vomited, while a male colleague collapsed.

The incident is said to have taken place at an all-inclusive ocean-front hotel popular with honeymooners, although the hotel has not been named.

It was reported that other guests filmed the crew members, one of whom allegedly said: “We’re British Airways crew, what of it?”

A British Airways spokesperson said: “We expect the highest standards of our crew, and we are urgently investigating this matter.”
