Barcelona continued their flawless start to the season with a controlled and impressive Champions League win over Feyenoord.

Captain Raphinha scored twice and Karim Adeyemi curled in a beauty as Hansi Flick’s side cruised to victory.

Lamine Yamal scored from a dipping free-kick and Gabriel Jesus had time to nod in his first for the club.

Since the start of the 2024-25 campaign, only Harry Kane (29) has been directly involved in more goals than Raphinha in the Champions League.

And he took took just three minutes to score his seventh goal of the season already. The Brazilian masterfully sidestepped two defenders inside the penalty area and lashed home after a touch inside from Yamal.

Dani Olmo then rifled in a shot on target as the Spanish side started brilliantly.

Much of the speculation through the summer surrounded Barca’s failure to recruit a number nine but Raphinha has wasted no time in making that shirt his own.

And it was soon 2-0.

Adeyemi, in for England winger Anthony Gordon, was allowed to come inside from wide on the left and arrowed in a curler from 20 yards.

Feyenoord had a penalty shout waved away before Joao Cancelo smashed a shot against the post for the hosts.

Feyenoord saw more of the ball in the opening stages of the second half but then Raphinha had his second of the night.

Pedri sliced the Dutch side’s defence open with a lovely pass to free the former Leeds man and he made no mistake.

Feyenoord instantly struck back though as Nacho Ferri picked up on a loose ball inside the area and placed into the far corner – only for a VAR check to rule it out for offside.

19-year-old Shaqueel van Persie came on to make his Champions League debut for Feyenoord from the bench, following in the footsteps of his father Robin, who was also 19 when he debuted in the competition for the Dutch side in October 2002.

But he could not make much of an impact as the hosts grabbed a fourth late on. Yamal didn’t connect brilliantly with his free-kick but it somehow went through the wall to find the back of the net.

Feyenoord then did have a goal to celebrate as Goncalo Borges’ low cross was turned in by Sem Steijn.

And Jesus, a deadline day signing from Arsenal, scored the fifth with a deft little header just two minutes after coming on.
