In a special operation, the North-East Division of Bengaluru City Police have recovered 692 lost and stolen mobile phones worth approximately ₹1.75 crore using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.

Police teams from across 11 police stations worked extensively during April 2026 to trace missing mobile phones reported by citizens. The coordinated drive resulted in the recovery of devices of various brands.

According to police data, the recoveries were made across three sub-divisions. In the Yelahanka Sub-Division, Yelahanka police recovered 83 phones, Yelahanka New Town 76, Kodigehalli 66, and Vidyaranyapura 86. In the Sampigehalli Sub-Division, Sampigehalli police recovered 107 phones, Kothanur 70, Bagalur 85, and Amruthahalli 66. In the Devanahalli Sub-Division, Chikkajala police recovered 34 phones, Devanahalli 12, and KIA Police Station 7.

Police officials said that registering details of lost or stolen mobile phones on the CEIR portal or filing complaints at police stations significantly improves the chances of tracing and recovery. Efforts are on to trace the owners of the phones.
