Bournemouth stunned Arsenal earlier this month to blow the title race wide open and Tyler Adams says the Cherries could sense the nervous energy amongst home fans early on

Tyler Adams says Bournemouth were encouraged by the tense home crowd during their recent 2-1 win away at Arsenal.

The Cherries stunned Arsenal a week-and-a-half ago to open up the title race, with goals from Eli Kroupi Jr and Alex Scott clinching a famous victory for Andoni Iraola's men. Arsenal have since suffered a second straight Premier League defeat at the hands of Manchester City, who have all but wiped out the lead their title rivals had at the summit.

As talk over Arsenal potentially blowing a golden opportunity to win their first domestic title in more than 20 years continues to grow, Adams has been speaking about the atmosphere inside The Emirates.

“You could tell early on when they tried to play from the back that there was a sense of nervousness,” the United States international said on the Men in Blazers podcast.

“It just takes one little error or one little mistake and the fans get a little bit nervy.

“That's a difficult atmosphere to play in and thrive in when you're trying to chase a championship, because we talk about them like they're not still sitting first in the table.

“As the opposition, it’s the best thing to hear.”

Manchester City have a golden opportunity to move level on points with Arsenal - as well as potentially overtaking them on goal difference - when they play their game in hand against relegation threatened Burnley on Wednesday night.

Declan Rice was seen telling his Arsenal team-mates immediately after Sunday's game that the title race was "not done" - and Pep Guardiola says he absolutely loves that message from the England midfielder.

“I love that. I love that. That's why Arsenal is there,” he told Sky Sports.

“I saw it [on Monday] and it shows what Declan Rice means. That's the Arsenal mentality, we've faced it in the Premier League these [past] seasons and in the Carabao Cup, how competitive they are.

“Otherwise they can't have done the season they have done in the Premier League being there and being unbeaten in the Champions League, as you have Mikel [Arteta] but also these type of players that follow the message.

“And in the bad moments, they have the resilience [to say] we are there, we are there. That is a good example for us what we're going to face in the six games, five games [for them] in the title race.”
