Prime Minister Mark Carney will be holding a media availability with accredited Canadian media at the United Nations headquarters in New York City on Tuesday afternoon. Carney is working to strengthen Canada’s ties beyond the United States while at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Carney said last week that Canada "welcomes" the European Union's proposal to become an "associate member." At the same time, the U.S. is aiming to replace Canada with Belarus for purchasing potash. In a social media post, U.S. President Donald Trump says his administration is working on a deal with the Eastern European country and claimed the pricing would be far less than what the U.S. is paying Canada.
