Geelong has used a dominant second half to down Collingwood, whose captain Darcy Moore suffered a concussion.
The Cats kicked 11 goals to four after half-time to run out 18.14 (122) to 9.14 (68) winners in front of over 83,000 spectators at the MCG.
It was a match-up of two milestone men as Geelong defender Tom Stewart played in his 200th career match, while Collingwood's Scott Pendlebury tied the VFL/AFL games record with his 432nd appearance.
Collingwood played the second half without Moore, who failed a concussion test at half-time following a clash with Geelong's Oisin Mullin as the pair attacked a ground ball.
The concussion continues a wretched run with injuries for the Collingwood captain, who has managed just four matches this season.
Bailey Smith was outstanding for Geelong, finishing with a game-high 40 disposals and 14 score involvements, while ex-Magpie Ollie Henry kicked four goals.
The ageless Pendlebury was among Collingwood's best once again with 27 disposals, while Jordan De Goey led the way for the Pies with 30 touches.
In Darwin, the Suns had a terrible start, down by 25 points at the opening break.
But as they lifted their efforts, the "home side" kicked 12 goals to three after quarter-time, eventually running out 13.11 (89) to 8.12 (60) winners.
The win puts the Suns on 6-3, and they remain unbeaten in Darwin, with nine wins from as many games.
The Saints struggled after the late withdrawal of star Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, while co-captain and key defender Callum Wilkie missed most of the game after picking up a lower-back injury.
Earlier on Saturday, Sydney returned to the top of the AFL ladder with a 16.9 (105) to 14.13 (97) win over North Melbourne at Docklands Stadium before the GWS Giants overcame a 26-point deficit to down Essendon 16.7 (103) to 13.11 (89) at the Sydney Showgrounds.

Suns shine after slow start as Saints lose two stars
Daniel Rioli (left) was a star as the Suns remained unbeaten in Darwin (Getty Images/AFL Photos)Gold Coast have recovered from a slow start to kick clear of St Kilda, missing stars Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Callum Wilkie, for a 29-point AFL win in Darwin.
Wanganeen-Milera was a shock pre-game withdrawal because of leg soreness, while Wilkie was forced off in the second term with a back injury.
Suns key defender Sam Collins was best afield on Saturday night and Ben King kicked four goals in the 13.11 (89) to 8.12 (60) win. The Suns have won their last nine games in Darwin.
Key forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan also gave the Suns an injury scare in the last quarter, leaving the field after he jarred a knee in a marking contest.
But he was running without any apparent discomfort after the game.
Wilkie wore a knee to the back from King, putting the 164-game streak of the Saints co-captain in jeopardy.
St Kilda's ironman has not missed a game since his 2019 debut and rarely leaves the ground.
Gold Coast kicked 12 goals to three after quarter-time in the energy-sapping conditions, with the temperature in the high 20s and plenty of top-end humidity.
After King kicked the opening goal, it was a case of "no Nas, no worries" in the first quarter for the Saints.
They went on a five-goal run and broke out to a 25-point lead at quarter time.
Darcy Wilson had kicked two goals and the Saints were out-pressuring Gold Coast.
But the Suns rebounded quickly, kicking five goals in 11 minutes to wrest back the lead.
Daniel Rioli's scything run out of defence set up Lachie Weller for their second goal.
Rioli and John Noble were critical to the Suns' comeback with their ball use and run off half-back, while Collins was imperious and star midfielder Christian Petracca was prominent after a quiet start.
While St Kilda comfortably won the clearances 39-21 for the game, the Suns' defence was too good — Bodhi Uwland also starred with his intercept marking.
The Saints had their chances in the second term, but sprayed four behinds — the first time this season they had been goalless in a quarter.
King kicked another two goals in the third term and they held a 14-point lead at the last change.
Gold Coast's Ethan Read left the field in the third quarter because of a knee problem.
Wilson kicked his third goal 18 minutes into the third quarter to break their drought and finished with four, while defender Jack Silvagni was also high among St Kilda's best.
The Suns will stay in Darwin for next week's game against Port Adelaide.

Collingwood and Geelong players give Stewart guard of honour
Brilliant scenes here at the MCG as players from both teams line up to give Tom Stewart a guard of honour.
A nice moment of sportsmanship from Scott Pendlebury as well.
He's doing an interview for Fox Footy with Jack Riewoldt and sees the players are lining up for Stewart and cuts the interview short to pay his respects.
Pendlebury refusing to confirm whether he'll play his record-breaking match next weekend against Sydney at the SCG, or whether he'll rest and play the following week against West Coast at the MCG.

FT: Geelong 18.14 (122) defeats Collingwood 9.14 (68)
Ollie Henry kicked four goals as Geelong cruised to a 54-point win over Collingwood at the MCG. (Getty Images)Jack Bowes dribbles one home after the siren and that is the perfect ending to what was a perfect match to Geelong!
It's a 54-point win to the Cats in the end after an utterly dominant second half which saw them kick 11.8 to 4.6 in the second half.
Collingwood led the inside 50 count 59-52, but couldn't take advantage of that territorial dominance at all tonight, both with their method of entries and the finishing in front of goal.
Geelong's defence was excellent all around the ground, set up by a ferocious attack on the footy in the front half of the ground.
"It felt like everything clicked for us," says Tom Stewart, who gets to celebrate his 200th career match with a famous win.
Bailey Smith was outstanding again and finishes the match as the leading ball-winner on the ground with 40 disposals, while Jordan De Goey led the way for the Pies with 30 touches.
Smith also tallied 14 score involvements, six clearances and six inside 50s.
Ollie Henry enjoyed a tremendous night against his old side, kicking 4.2 from 12 disposals, while Shaun Mannagh kicked three goals in the second half.

Henry drops speckie, but drills freakish snap aterwards
This is the Ollie Henry experience in an absolute nutshell!
He skies high to put himself in position to take a sensational mark, but drops it.
However, he's not out of the action once the ball hits the ground, as he grabs the ball and snaps it home with the outside of the boot in heavy traffic.
Henry's enjoyed a terrific night against his old side, he's got 4.2 now to lead the Cats.

McStay adds a consolation goal for Collingwood
Lawson Humphries with a shocking turnover, and that's not going to make Chris Scott any happier.

Just a couple of minutes left in this one.

Buller drills Collingwood's third goal of the quarter
Jack Buller with the long-range snap for the Pies, who have three for the quarter now!
Buller's had a decent outing with 16 disposals and two goals.
Geelong might have this game in the bag, but Chris Scott is not happy with the level of defending he saw on that goal.

Dangerfield drills his second for the final term
Patrick Dangerfield was virtually unsighted for the first half of this one, but he's cashing in now.
The Cats skipper takes his second contested mark inside 50 and flushes his set shot once again.
Dangerfield's got just 15 disposals, but it's been max damage, as he's got 10 score involvements too.

Mannah drills a miraculous goal from the pocket
Shaun Mannagh makes sure there's going to be no Collingwood comeback tonight!
He gets on the end of a handball in the pocket on the wrong side for a right-footer, and decides to go for the nonchalant drop punt and threads the needle beautifully.
Mannagh's now got three goals for the night, all three of them have come in this second half.

Anderson makes it two Pies goals in a minute
Angus Anderson snaps one through on the left boot and after going so long without a goal, the Pies have two in a matter of seconds!
There's a little bit more of a celebration here. The margin is down to 40 points with 12:30 left on the clock.
Surely there is not enough time on the clock, even for the Magpies.

Schultz kicks Collingwood's first goal of the half
Lachie Schultz breaks Collingwood's drought and breaks a run of eight straight Geelong goals!
This is a brilliant finish from the little man, who crumbs a ruck contest beautifully from a boundary throw-in and snaps it through in heavy traffic.
Barely any celebrating from the Collingwood players.

FT stats
- Inside 50s: 48-45 Gold Coast
- Clearances: 39-21 St Kilda
- Centre clearances: 15-7 St Kilda
- Contested possessions: 119-112 St Kilda
- Uncontested possessions: 250-237 Gold Coast
- Marks inside 50: 13-10 St Kilda
So this shows why stats don't always mean much.
The Saints dominated the clearances and breaks out of the middle, but they couldn't turn it into points (or enough points).

Neale shrugs off finger injury with another goal
Turns out it's all a bit of drama from Shannon Neale!
Just a few minutes after smacking his dislocated finger back into place while laying on the turf, he skies up and takes a terrific mark.
Neale goes back and drills the set shot to make it 7.6 to 0.6 Geelong's way since half-time.
Collingwood has been thoroughly outclassed here tonight.

Neale dislocates finger after dropped mark
The sting has gone out of this one in the final quarter, but Shannon Neale is certainly feeling the sting right now!
The Cats forward drops a mark on the lead and immediately writhes in pain and it looks like he's dislocated a finger in his right hand.

The bottom line is that after a very poor start, the Suns kicked 12 goals to three on the final three quarters.
The Suns move to 6-3, with another Darwin game against Port Adelaide next week.
The Saints did it tough with the late withdrawal of Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and the early injury to Callum Wilkie.
They slip to 4-5 and will have to bounce back against Richmond next week.

Dangerfield and Mannagh strike inside first minute
There's a bit of a sense of letting go of the rope here from the Pies.
Patrick Dangerfield takes a big contested mark and drills the set shot to kick his first of the night.
That comes a matter of seconds after Shaun Mannagh struck 20 seconds into the final term.
Geelong has now kicked 5.0 out of centre clearances so far for the night and they lead by 44 points.

Ben King finishes it off for the Suns
The Suns are in control here in the dying minutes, and they pounce on another error and go forward.
Ben Long hits up Ben King just inside 50 - and the Suns spearhead never looks like missing.

Desperation stakes for the Saints
Time is ticking down, and the Saints need four goals.
They are still under fierce pressure, and they are just kicking it high and handsome in search of a mark - only the marks are intercepts by the Suns' defence.
