The American woman who survived a botched execution attempt is now conscious. Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike was believed to be brain dead but woke up nearly a week after the state tried to put her to death. Pike is believed to be the only person in the U.S. to survive not just one, but two lethal injections of pentobarbital. On Wednesday, Pike’s lawyers gave an update on her condition, as they fought for evidence to be preserved. Pike’s Attorney Randy Spivey said, “She is angry and confused about everything right now… She is very aware the state tried to execute her.” Touria Izri reports.
