Citizens for Democracy, a civil rights group, organised a mock Parliament on the theme ‘Democracy vs Anarchy’ on Friday (October 30, 2026). Issues such as the SIR of electoral rolls, EVMs, the role of the Election Commission, allegations of “vote chori”, and recent protests were discussed.
The event was organised alongside a mock Parliament session that was scheduled to be held at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday, but was rescheduled for Saturday.

Young participants took on the roles of prominent political leaders to debate recent political developments. They enacted parliamentary proceedings, portraying leaders from both the ruling side and the Opposition and presenting differing perspectives. The discussions also focused on the distinction between democratic dissent and anarchy.

The participants discussed issues ranging from independence and credibility of democratic institutions, parliamentary decorum, political accountability, and transparency in the electoral process, to the role of protests in a democracy.
