As the protest against alleged examination irregularities in Jharkhand entered its 13th day on Wednesday (August 6, 2026), the Congress, which is in alliance with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led government, said that the party “stands in support of the agitating student for justice in Ranchi”.

K. Raju, the All India Congress Committee in-charge for Jharkhand, in a post on X, said his party supports the students’ agitation against paper leaks in the State.

“Jharkhand IYC and NSUI leaders joined by National President, National Secretary to express total solidarity with students protesting JPSC & JSSC irregularities,” said Mr. Raju in a post.

A Congress delegation, led by Mr. Raju, met Chief Minister Hemant Soren and thanked him for constituting a Ministerial Committee to have a dialogue with the protesting students and formulate concrete solutions.

The protest, which began on July 25 under the banner of the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, emerged as one of the biggest student-led movements in the State in recent years.

The demonstrators are demanding cancellation of the 14th Jharkhand PSC Civil Services Examination and an independent probe into the alleged irregularities in the recruitment test either by the CBI or by a panel of retired High Court Judges from outside the State.

They also seek comprehensive reform in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).
