A 77-year-old woman is suspected to have died of H1N1 (swine flu) at a private hospital in the city on Wednesday.

The deceased, a resident of Palarivattom, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday with fever and related symptoms. She died by Wednesday noon.

The Health authorities said a test for H1N1 conducted in a private lab on Tuesday had turned positive. However, it was yet to be ascertained whether the test adhered to the protocols.

“We have to get the details of the tests for confirmation. The Health department may conduct additional tests if blood samples are available,” a senior official said.
