Celtic’s European season suffered another crushing blow as they slumped to a demoralising 3–1 home defeat against Ferencváros in the Europa League.

It was an all-too-familiar, painful tale under the Parkhead lights for the Scottish champions who fell behind when an awkward, fizzed cross struck Liam Scales went in. The Hoops rallied and looked to have turned the tide right before the interval when Mika Baur found room inside a crowded penalty area to drill a crisp, low finish past the goalkeeper.

But Kristoffer Zachariassen ghosted in completely unmarked to restore the Hungarian side’s lead and two minutes after the restart, Ferencváros delivered the knockout blow: Daniel Arzani collected a pass from Bamidele Yusuf, chopped inside onto his stronger foot, and curled a stunning strike into the top corner.

In Turin, Juventus delivered an absolute masterclass, running riot to dismantle NEC Nijmegen 5–0.

On-loan Newcastle man Nick Woltemade was among the scorers with a penalty while substitute Randal Kolo Muani sealed the rout by rolling the ball into an empty net.
