A 19-year-old footballer needed two rounds of life-saving surgery after being stabbed in the early hours of Sunday morning. Alamara Djabi, who plays for Danish side Midtjylland, was attacked in the city of Herning.
Djabi was initially placed in an induced coma but has woken up after two surgeries. The midfielder is now in a stable condition, his club say.
In a statement, Midtjylland confirmed: "Alamara Djabi was seriously injured in a stabbing and is now in stable condition after two operations.
"He has woken up from an induced coma and is doing well under the circumstances. FC Midtjylland is in close dialogue and collaboration with the authorities and supports him and his family.

"Alamara Djabi has not been selected for the first team for a long time and was not in the game for the upcoming matches. Our thoughts are with our teammate, his family and friends, and we wish him continued recovery."
Police in Denmark also released a statement. Authorities say that they're looking for a 20-year-old man with fair skin and short dark hair, who is believed to be connected to Sunday's 3:30am attack.
Djabi has featured once for Midtjylland this season, coming on as a substitute against KuPS in Europa League qualifying. The Guinea-Bissau-born star was subsequently named on the bench for games against Celtic, Roma, Genk and Dinamo Zagreb in the main competition.
Last season, Djabi spent time on loan with Portuguese side Mafra, who play in the second tier. He made his debut for Midtjylland during the 2023-24 season, having come through their academy.
The club are currently fighting to win the Superliga title, having last lifted the trophy in 2024. The four-time Danish champions sit second in the table behind Aarhus Gymnastikforening - also known as AGF - who they play in a potential title decider on Sunday evening.
Midtjylland famously beat Manchester United 2-1 in the Europa League knockouts in 2016. United ended up going through the round of 16, as Louis van Gaal's side won the second leg at Old Trafford 5-1 in a game which is best remembered for Marcus Rashford scoring two goals on his debut.
