An Air India Express flight from Goa had to abort landing at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and make a turnaround on Saturday.
According to sources, the flight, which was scheduled to land at 8.10 p.m. at the KIA, was asked by the Air Traffic Control (ATC) to make a turnaround after noticing a foreign object on the runway.
“The ATC officials noticed a foreign object on the runway and asked the pilots of the flight to make a turnaround. After a few minutes the aircraft made a safe landing at the airport,” the sources said.
The officials did not specify whether the foreign object sighted on the runway was an animal.
On October 19, an official said, “On 17th October at 7.51 p.m., an Indigo flight, which was landing reported a rabbit crossing the runway. For safety of aircraft, the next aircraft was asked to go around while inspection was carried out by apron management team. Nothing was found by the apron team. Subsequently, the aircraft, which had gone around, landed safely.”
