Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayB.C. forest giant Interfor is relocating its head office from Burnaby to Georgia, as the lumber industry faces weak markets and higher U.S. tariffs. Founded in the 1960s, Interfor grew from a single B.C. mill into a major North American lumber producer. Jock Finlayson, chief economist for the Independent Contractors and Businesses Association (ICBA), explains that most of Interfor’s business is “in the United States now, which I think sort of helps to explain the move.” Economists warn that without a stronger commitment from the B.C. government, Interfor may not be the only forestry company looking south.
