TV personality Gail Porter has shared her brutal injuries after falling down a flight of stairs while making her way home following the press night of the Trainspotting musical

Former TV presenter Gail Porter has revealed the shocking injuries she suffered after falling down a flight of stairs at a London tube station.

The TV personality, 55, took to Instagram to reveal that she was in fact knocked over which led to her dramatic fall. She told her fans: "So... to all you wonderful keyboard warriors that said I’m looking old, and saying something was wrong with my face...

"I went to Trainspotting: The Musical to support my friends that created this. Last week... I was knocked over while going down the stairs at a London Tube station. It was just a wee accident on the stairs. Nothing intentional! My scars are superficial and it’s not a problem. It was an accident and it won’t stop me from being me."

She added: "Please... from the bottom of my heart... don’t ever be disrespectful to anyone for how they look or how they are. Kindness is so invaluable. I’m a wee Scottish Warrior. Just always look out for each other. Simple. And good concealer!"

Last year, Gail spoke candidly in an exclusive interview with the Mirror where she explained that she has now come out the other side of quite a bleak existence which lasted for several years.

The former TV star had famously battled a condition called alopecia where she lost her hair and also fell into a depression. Now a mental health campaigner, Gail works for charities to help others.

She told us: "“I’m 100% happy. I’ve got my cat. My daughter’s doing brilliantly — she’s 22 now, finished uni and is working. I’m working, too, mostly charity stuff, and often for free, but I still worry about the next paid job. After being sectioned and homeless, I feel very lucky. I have great friends."

And while she currently sounds upbeat and hopeful, it wasn't that long ago her life was completely different as she was sectioned under a 28-day order in 2011.

She explained: "It was terrifying. I was drugged up to my eyeballs, sharing a ward with men convinced they were Jesus, and violent patients. It felt like One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest."

Her life spiralled after she found herself sofa surfing in friends' homes and once ended up on a bench.

She continued saying: "I’d applied for library jobs and charity shop shifts. People said, ‘You can’t do that — you’re Gail Porter!’ I just wanted someone to give me a chance. Instead, I ended up on a bench thinking I’d had enough."
