The former police officer accused of fatally shooting a Con Edison worker during a road-rage confrontation on the George Washington Bridge was employed as a driver for the CEO of an investment firm and was reportedly driving the company’s Range Rover at the time.
Victor Romero, a former NYPD detective, had worked in private security since leaving the department in 2001. Law enforcement sources told The Post that he was most recently employed as a driver for Dan Gold, CEO of the biotech and energy investment firm QVT Financial.

A company representative said Thursday that QVT Financial was aware of the incident and was cooperating with investigators.
“We are aware of the press reports concerning Victor Romero and are cooperating with the authorities in this matter,” the representative said.
Romero, 62, a former Brooklyn narcotics detective, was charged Thursday with manslaughter in the death of Koran Irvine, a Con Edison worker and father of two. Prosecutors allege Irvine was shot Tuesday night in the Jersey-bound lanes of the George Washington Bridge.
Manhattan prosecutors allege that Romero had been driving closely behind Irvine before firing one shot into his vehicle. Authorities say he then fled the scene without stopping or calling 911.
Romero was arrested Wednesday and ordered held on $1 million bail.
It remains unclear how long Romero had worked for Gold at QVT Financial.
Gold, who graduated from Harvard, founded QVT Financial in 2003, according to his LinkedIn profile. Online records indicate that the hedge fund oversees more than $2 billion in assets.
