Greg James' wife burst into tears on live TV as the radio star reached a milestone in his epic fundraiser. Author Bella Mackie, 42, tied the knot with the BBC Radio 1 star, 40, in 2018 and appeared on Thursday night's edition of The One Show via live link as her husband he reached Galashiels, Scotland on his mammoth 1,000km Comic Relief cycle challenge.
Waiting for her husband as he climbed off his bike, Bella promptly threw her arms around Greg, he picked her up and they shared a kiss. The radio host was quickly ushered into a quick interview and Bella was seen wiping tears from her eyes.
BBC presenter Jennifer Reoch chatted to Greg to find out how he's managing, and he admitted: "I'm completely depleted, I'm so nearly, nearly, nearly broken, but crucially, not broken. This thing nearly got me this morning when I just started the whole thing in floods of tears. I haven't seen Bella in ages!"

Reminding viewers that Greg once promised 'never' to attempt a challenge again, Jen asked if he's pleased he had a change of heart. He replied: "Yeah, I'm pleased that we've done this challenge and it's sort of captured people's imagination in a way that it has done. The amount of money raised is unbelievable."
As their conversation concluded, Jennifer revealed to the BBC star that he's currently raised an impressive total of £2,510,243. The final amount will be disclosed on Friday, March 20, during the Comic Relief broadcast. Back in the studio, Alex Jones and Roman Kemp - who were joined by Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan and presenter Nick Grimshaw - and their guests all applauded at the emotional moment. Alex said: "Fantastic! Not even out of breath!"
Greg was previously shocked when he was surprised by royalty, as Prince William dropped by to see him on his tandem bike as he made his way through the South Yorkshire countryside. Joining the broadcaster on the fifth day of his challenge, William said: “What you’ve done is set an example about helping out. That’s the thing.
“It’s volunteering some of your time, putting yourself through a bit of pain at the same time, and supporting others. It’s something we do very well in this country, but we don’t really shout about it enough."
Greg went on to say on the radio: “What is amazing is that there seems to be some sort of… the interest in it, I’m so proud that we came up with this daft challenge and that people are interested in it, and that’s leading people to donate.”
Greg also hailed Comic Relief as “brilliant” as it raises money for people who may not receive much support from their families, adding that he is “very fortunate” to have a close network.
