The ACB Court in Kurnool sentenced Government Railway Police (GRP) head constable Sreepathi Devadanam to five years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and imposed a fine of ₹2 lakh. The GRP constable was stationed at Yerraguntla in Kadapa district.
The court also sentenced him to seven years of RI under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(d) of the PC Act and imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh. Both sentences shall run concurrently.
In January 2018, the complainant went to the GRP Station and requested Mr. Devadanam to provide the FIR, inquest and post-mortem reports, as well as the final report, to obtain the death benefits for her son, who had died in a train accident in Yerraguntla mandal.
The accused head constable demanded a bribe of ₹9,000 to provide the reports and to conduct the investigation in favour of the complainant. Acting on a complaint, the ACB in Kadapa registered a case, according to a release from ACB officials.
