A wet weekend has been forecast for many parts of Andhra Pradesh, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Amaravati, said that there is a possibility of isolated heavy rain in coastal areas from June 26 to 28, 2026, while a few places in Rayalaseema may also receive light showers.

All the three regions, South and North Coastal A.P. and Rayalaseema, may receive light to moderate showers till the end of the month. At present, lower tropospheric south westerly/westerly winds are prevailing over the State, according to the IMD.

On Wednesday (June 24), Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Polavaram, Palnadu, Prakasam, Nellore, Nandyal, Sri Sathya Sai, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya, Chittoor, and Tirupati districts may receive light to moderate showers.

The rainfall activity, which was sluggish at first, has picked up pace in the last week, slightly bringing down the overall deficit in the State from 32.8% on June 18 to 27.3% on June 23, according to the Directorate of Economics and Statistics.

Out of 28 districts, 11 have reported deficit, while Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema and Alluri Sitharama Raju districts continue to report large deficient rainfall, which is above 60%. All the districts that reported deficit rainfall are in Rayalaseema and northern part of the State, while the Central A.P. has received normal rainfall.
