India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert (extremely heavy rainfall above 204.5 mm) for coastal Karnataka for July 2 and July 3. The warning is valid till 8.30 a.m. on July 3.

Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) stated that coastal Karnataka recorded 53 mm rainfall in 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on July 1 against the normal rainfall of 41 mm for the same period.

Dakshina Kannada recorded 67.3 mm rainfall (against 44.1 mm normal rainfall), Udupi 75.5 mm rainfall (49.7 mm), and Uttara Kannada 39.2 mm rainfall (36.8 mm) during this period.

Mulky in Dakshina Kannada recorded the maximum 199.5 mm rainfall, Hejamady in Udupi district received the maximum 180.5 mm rainfall, and Salkod in Uttara Kannnada reported the maximum 129 mm rainfall during the period.

Pandeshwar Fire Station in Mangaluru recorded 140 mm rainfall.
