Montreal city leaders are vowing to rebuild trust after the suspensions and reassignments of 16 officers over allegations of racism. “We work so hard to improve relations between residents and police and it feels like we're going backwards,” Montreal-North Mayor Christine Black said in French. Organizations and community members in Montreal-North have long raised concerns about the relationship with police, highlighting racial profiling and street checks.
