Congress retained both Bagalkot and Davangere South Assembly constituencies, according to the Election Commission of India which declared the results for byelections to the two seats in Karnataka on May 4, 2026.

While Umesh Meti won Bagalkot — a seat held by his late father H.Y. Meti — by a margin of 22,332 votes, Samarth Mallikarjun scripted victory in Davangere South — won four successive times by his late grandfather Shamanur Shivashankarappa — by a difference of 5,708 votes.
