Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayAccomplished ultra-endurance cyclist Lael Wilcox’s latest challenge is a second pedal-powered circumnavigation of the globe, this time attempting to be the fastest person ever to do so. Read on to learn more about her inspiring ride, which begins in just a few days…
On Sunday morning, Lael Wilcox will ride away from Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain, heading east in a fresh record attempt. Chasing Mark Beaumont’s 2017 time of 78 days, 14 hours, and 40 minutes, she’ll pedal some 18,000 miles (29,000 kilometers) across four continents on her quest to establish the new record for fastest circumnavigation of the globe by bicycle. She’s targeting a whopping 240 miles per day for her fully supported ride, with plans to return to Chicago in 78 days or faster.
Lael will be aboard a Specialized S-Works Roubaix with Future Shock suspension, paired with a SRAM RED AXS drivetrain. Her gearing setup features a 48/35 chainring combination with 170mm cranks, a power meter, a 10-36 cassette, and wireless blips. Her wheels are the all-new Zipp 202 NSW and 454 NSW, complemented by Zipp Vuka Evo aerobars with clip extensions and Zipp Service Course CX handlebar tape.
We wish Lael the very best in her upcoming endeavor to make history, which we’ll be keeping up with over the next few months. You can do so as well by following her on Instagram.
