DUXBURY, Mass. (AP) — — Jurors were brought Friday inside the Massachusetts house where Lindsay Clancy killed her three young children, an uncommon courtroom field visit that allowed them to see the setting where a family’s everyday life became the scene of an unspeakable tragedy.
Before entering the home, the jury was driven past two local businesses tied to the events of the January 2023 killings. They were then taken inside in groups of six, including to the basement where the children died. Over the course of the roughly 40-minute visit, jurors also viewed the yard where Clancy was discovered after jumping from a second-floor window.
Members of the media were held back behind a police barricade, though court officers could be seen through the trees guiding jurors between the bus and the area that had once served as the Clancy family’s driveway. The property has since been sold to a new owner.
Clancy did not take part in the visit and has not returned to the house since the day her children died. Her defense team says she was suffering from postpartum psychosis, a rare and severe psychiatric condition that can be associated with childbirth, sleep loss, hormonal shifts and intense stress.
