The Crows and Cats look to bounce back from losses and hold on to spots in the top eight and top four respectively when they meet in Adelaide.

Adelaide is well-rested after enjoying a bye last weekend, but lost its most recent clash, while Geelong has to improve after a shock loss to Carlton last week.

Follow all the action in our live blog below.

Dawson strikes from long-range after turnover

Jordan Dawson reads Zach Guthrie's mind and chops off a kick outside of defensive 50.

Dawson takes the mark 45m out directly in front and then flushes the set shot from just outside 50.

The Adelaide skipper is now up to 13 touches and has a clearance as well.

Henry and Walker exchange quick goals as debutant shines

Jack Henry gets Geelong back in front with a quick reply after Taylor Walker's opener.

Adelaide's debutant Hugo Hall-Kahan with a lovely kick off halfback in the build-up to the Walker goal.

Hall-Kahan has been excellent so far, he's got eight touches and looks right at home at this level.

Martin strikes with a snap to put Cats in front

Jack Martin is up and about here!

He crumbs beautifully at the front of a big pack and gets on the end of a handball from Jack Henry and snaps truly on the right boot.

Lovely finish in these conditions. Martin with two goals now, he should've had three.

Stewart denies Rachele on the goal line

Josh Rachele almost kicks an absolute ripper out of nothing, but Tom Stewart is there in the nick of time.

Stewart gets a palm on it right on the goal line.

That would've hurt the Cats considering how much territorial dominance they've enjoyed.

Geelong dominating territory to start second term

Geelong with the first three inside 50s of the second quarter, but so far they've not provided any dividends.

Adelaide's defence holding up well for the moment.

QT: Adelaide 3.2 (20) leads Geelong 2.6 (18)

Brayden Cook becomes the latest player to miss a regulation set shot after the siren, but the Crows take a two-point lead into the first change.

Geelong will be bitterly disappointed to be behind after dominating the first half of the quarter.

The Cats lead the disposal count 112-88, the inside 50 count 16-10 and the clearance count 13-11, including a 5-1 lead out of centre bounces.

Geelong skipper Patrick Dangerfield has turned in a virtuoso first quarter performance at his old home ground.

Dangerfield, who is averaging 12 disposals a game this season, already has 13 touches and five clearances in an increased midfield role so far tonight.

Ten of Dangerfield's 13 touches have been contested and he's also kicked a goal to top it all up, talk about stepping into a time machine.

Crows skipper Jordan Dawson leads the way for his side with nine disposals, while Dan Curtin has three clearances.

Both sides are struggling in the conditions, but Adelaide seems to be more intent on just claiming territory, while Geelong has been a little more deliberate.

Berry puts Crows in front with a brilliant snap in traffic

I was just about to type how poor the skills have been in these conditions, and then Sam Berry goes and does that!

An errant shot at goal from Ben Keays results in a throw-in deep inside 50 for Adelaide.

It's a proper scrap from the throw-in and Berry picks up the loose ball and snaps it through on the left foot. A goal out of nothing really!

Berry is having a terrific season for the Crows, one of the real risers so far.

Neal-Bullen and Dangerfield exchange goals

Two goals apiece so far through the first 10 minutes of this one, and the conditions are making it a tough old slog.

Shaun Mannagh, like Jack Martin, missed a set shot that he would usually kick in good conditions.

Patrick Dangerfield playing more midfield tonight and he's wound back the clock so far to lead all players with six touches and three clearances.

Geelong leading the early inside 50 count 12-7.

Taylor with the quick reply for the Crows

Zac Taylor with a terrific finish off the snap!

The Crows go inside 50 for the first time in the match after winning the centre bounce, and Alex Neal-Bullen draws everyone in beautifully before handing off to Taylor.

Meanwhile, the heavens have properly opened up now.

Martin makes amends after horror miss

Jack Martin wins a free kick for holding the man, but absolutely shells the set shot from directly in front 20m out.

The Cats force the turnover from the ensuing kick-in and Patrick Dangerfield sends another ball long towards a pack and Martin skies above everyone to take a ripper.

Martin actually climbed over the back of teammate Ollie Henry to take that one.

After missing the set shot last time, he goes with the left-footed snap and nails it.

Another close finish?

G'day Chris, you're looking well tonight - I've gone with the recent stats and backed the Cats tonight. With you at the helm there's a chance it will be a tight finish :)

Play underway between Adelaide and Geelong

We've had the first bounce and we're off and running at the Adelaide Oval!

The rain has returned during the warm-ups and Shaun Burgoyne, who is boundary-riding for Fox Footy, says it is windy at ground level as well.

It'll be interesting to see who adjusts quicker to the wet weather conditions out there.

James Peatling lined up alongside Bailey Smith at the first bounce. Max Holmes also in there for the Cats.

The teams are out on the ground!

We're just about 10 minutes away from the first bounce here at the Adelaide Oval.

Geelong has run through the banner and the Cats are going through their final warm-ups.

The good news is that the conditions appear to be pretty good at the moment. No rain for the time being.

The Cats entrance is followed up by a light show and some fireworks as Adelaide's players run out.

The atmosphere as electric as usual at the Adelaide Oval.

Crows coach Matthew Nicks has talked about wanting a big scalp, is tonight the night they do it?

Brisbane's three-peat hopes suffer another blow

The two-time reigning champs have already endured a hot and cold start to this season, and the news gets worse.

Hugh McCluggage is now set to miss an extended period due to a calf sprain.

McCluggage now joins the likes of Dayne Zorko, Eric Hipwood, Oscar Allen, Dan Annable, Ryan Lester, Jack Payne and Keidean Coleman on the sidelines.

Adelaide vs Geelong team news — No late changes

Both Adelaide and Geelong will line up as originally selected tonight at the Adelaide Oval.

The Crows have two massive outs from the side that lost to Hawthorn in Round 11, with Taylor Walker and Hugo Hall-Kahan replacing the suspended Riley Thilthorpe and the injured Izak Rankine.

Meanwhile, Ollie Wiltshire, Jack Martin and Jack Bowes come in for Lawson Humphries, Brad Close and Mitch Edwards.
