Married at First Sight UK star Laura Vaughan has urged fans 'not to be an idiot like me' as she detailed what happened to her after 'not looking after myself'

A Married At First Sight UK star has revealed she was rushed to hospital after passing out on her bathroom and waking up "covered in blood". Laura Vaughan - who appeared on the Channel 4 show in 2023 - took to Instagram to share her harrowing ordeal.

Urging fans "not to be an idiot like me", the 36-year-old from Hampshire shared a selfie that showed a cut above her lip where she banged her face. Explaining what had happened, she wrote over the top: "Just gonna address something here v quickly as it’s likely I'm going to have to have this nasty cut on my face for some time."

The former finance manager, who is now a full-time social media influencer, continued: "I need to keep creating content so you'll see it and I don't want you guys thinking, 'Wth has happened to her?'

"I had a little incident yesterday, been having some issues with my health lately, and I've not been looking after myself. And yesterday I passed out and woke up on the bathroom floor covered in blood."

Detailing her injuries, Laura told her 109k followers: "Nasty bump to the head and a nastier cut to my lip, which actually apparently needed stitches. I'm back home and taking it easy – let this be a little reminder to not be an idiot like me and make sure you prioritise your health above anything else. Sending lots of love."

Laura shot to fame three years ago on the eighth series of MAFS UK when she tied the knot on TV with Polish tennis coach Arthur Poremba.

The pair made it to the final commitment ceremony. But while Arthur wanted to give things a go in the real world, Laura was against it.

And it didn't help that her pals didn't think Arthur was good enough for Laura, who had previously gone through a heartbreaking divorce before joining the show.

It's not known if the series will be back for 2026 - despite it already being filmed - due to serious allegations of rape and sexual assault made against some of the former participants.

The programme, which sees people marrying just moments after meeting for the first time, was a hit for Channel 4 and was broadcast on its E4 channel and All4 streaming service. But for now, all episodes have now been pulled from the platform.

Earlier this week a man in his 30s was arrested on arrested on suspicion of rape.

In a statement issued to BBC News, the Metropolitan Police said: "On Thursday, 18 June, Met officers arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of rape. This relates to an ongoing investigation, being led by the Met Police. He has since been bailed while enquiries remain ongoing." The individual is not being named and nor is the alleged victim.

The Metropolitan Police have subsequently asked "anyone who believes they have been a victim of sexual assault" after their time on the show to contact them.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 previously told the Mirror they had taken action themselves and launched a review into contestants welfare on the show, which is produced by independent production company CPL.

It said: "In April we commissioned an external review into contributor welfare on MAFS UK, which is underway and has two elements. The first part is examining the welfare protocols in place on the programme at the time claims were raised, as well as the handling by Channel 4 and CPL of those claims.

"The second part, led by former BBC One Controller Lorraine Heggessey, will examine if any changes should be made to current protocols for MAFS UK to further strengthen contributor welfare. The review now needs to run its course.”
