The government is thus supporting the production of six long projects and four short films, the development of six scripts and 12 projects, as well as three cultural programmes.

A total of 145,288 EUR was distributed for script development, 538,628 EUR for project development, 140,000 EUR for short fiction, documentary and animated films, and 2 m EUR for the production of four feature films, one long documentary, and one TV series.

Additionally, 60,000 EUR went to cultural programmes.

Over 100 applications were submitted through five separate calls. The sixth strand of this scheme, aiming to support the promotion of fiction, documentaries, and animated productions that have been completed in the past 18 months, remains open until 18 November 2026.

The Minister for Arts, Culture and National Heritage, Malcolm Paul Agius Galea, said that Malta's long-term strategy, Vision 2050, identifies long-term investment in the film industry as an important part of the country's long-term direction, quoted by Malta Independent.
