Manchester United are reported to be “angry” at the developments around Marcus Rashford’s future and a potential move to Barcelona. Rashford spent the season on loan with the La Liga giants, and there was a growing sense that the move would become permanent this summer.
The England international requested a move away from United last summer and was granted a loan move to Barcelona, which also includes the option to be made permanent.
He has since scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists during his loan spell at Barcelona, and there are now question marks over where the United academy graduate will be playing his football next season.
The Spanish outfit have the option of signing Rashford for £26million, but time is running out if they want to activate the clause.
Rashford has previously expressed a desire to become a Barcelona player on a permanent basis, which would see his career at United officially come to an end.
There has been a fresh update on Rashford’s future, which may hand a blow to the 28-year-old’s chances of returning to the Camp Nou this summer.
According to Spanish publication Sport, there is “anger” from United that a deal with Barcelona for Rashford is yet to be agreed, and appears to be increasingly unlikely.
It has been claimed that Barcelona initially wanted to negotiate a move for Rashford, with another loan being suggested by the player’s representatives, but no agreement was reached.
This led to Barcelona securing an €80million (£69million) move for Anthony Gordon from Newcastle, which has cast doubt on the La Liga club’s need to sign Rashford this summer, with both players occupying the same position.
As a result, it has been claimed that United are now reassessing their position when it comes to Rashford’s future, and are now said to be willing to negotiate with Barcelona about a potential deal.

It remains to be seen what could happen with Rashford’s future, with Barcelona reportedly no longer deeming a move for the England international as a priority for this window.
Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in signing Bernardo Silva, who will leave Manchester City this summer as a free agent.
It was suggested that a move for Silva, combined with signing Gordon, would rule out Rashford returning to the Camp Nou on a permanent deal.
However, recent reports have claimed that Silva will not make a decision on his future until after the World Cup.
