What began as a routine evening walk turned violent for a young woman from Manipur after she was allegedly assaulted by a group of men near the Saket District Court Complex on Sunday.

According to preliminary information, the woman and her friend were walking in a park in the Saket area when a group of men allegedly passed lewd remarks at them.

The situation escalated when the woman objected to the comments. Police said the confrontation quickly turned tense, leading to a heated exchange between the woman and the group.

During the altercation, the accused allegedly attacked the woman. The incident took place in a park close to the Saket District Court Complex in south Delhi.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the alleged assault. She was later taken to Safdarjung Hospital for medical examination and treatment.

Police action

Police teams reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and contacted the victim soon after.

Initial reports suggest that the woman is stable and her injuries are not serious. Officials said they remain in constant touch with the victim while examining the circumstances that led to the assault.

“Strict action will be taken against the culprits," police said, adding that the investigation into the incident is underway.
