Marcus Rashford says “an inconsistent environment” at Manchester United contributed to his disappointing displays towards the end of his time at Old Trafford.
Rashford struggled for form, and often looked disinterested during his later years at United before being dropped from the squad altogether by Ruben Amorim.
He was shipped out to Aston Villa on loan and then again to Barcelona at the start of this season.
Barca have the option to make the move permanent and Rashford is doing everything he can to ensure he remains in Catalonia after scoring three times and adding five assists in 10 games, including both goals as Hansi Flick’s side won 2-1 at Newcastle in the Champions League.
The 27-year-old appears to have regained his appetite for the game and says his performance levels dipped at United due to the constant uncertainty around the club.
You need constants in your life to perform well – Rashford
Responding to a remark made by England boss Thomas Tuchel that he only needs consistency to take him to a world class level, Rashford told ITV: “For sure, consistency is a massive part of it.

"I feel like I've been in an inconsistent environment for a very, very long time. So it's even more difficult to be consistent.

“I feel like I have been in an inconsistent environment for a very long time, so it is even more difficult to be consistent.
“But I completely agree, I think consistency is what I need to bring into my game and I am looking to do that.
“I want to be at my best, not sometimes, but as often as possible.
“When people talk about consistency, in order to be consistent in anything not just sport, you need consistent variables in your life and the way you train.
“We have just had so many changes so far in my career but I have to look forward and that is definitely one of the things I want to put right and improve on to be at my best more often.
“When I am at my best I really enjoy everything about the sport.”
Rashford could be handed England start in Latvia
Rashford came on for England against Wales on Thursday night but could be handed a place in the starting XI for tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier against Latvia in Riga.
An England win will secure a place at next summer’s World Cup finals in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
