Meta Platforms META.O has agreed to pay up to US$17.1 billion in one of the largest big tech settlements in history. A coalition of states accused the company of addicting a generation of children and teens to social media, misleading consumers about their safety, and improperly collecting the data of minors. As part of the settlement, Meta will also make sweeping changes to its apps, including daily usage limits and nighttime blocks, court papers show.
