Joined by Secretary of State for International Development Randeep Sarai, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister held a press conference Friday to update the public on nationals potentially affected by the recent flash floods that devastated parts of Nepal and Tibet. Thirty-two Canadians are currently unaccounted for and considered missing after the fatal disaster, though “no Canadian deaths have been confirmed,” Anand told reporters. As of Friday, more than 1,900 people are missing, and over 575 bodies have been recovered. As emergency crews continue their search for victims, Anand and Sarai announced $5 million worth of humanitarian aid to support emergency relief efforts.
