Burly Stormers lock Adre Smith was called up to the Springbok training squad in Johannesburg on Sunday.

A large national squad is preparing for next Saturday’s matches (20 June) at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium where the Springboks will tackle the Barbarians (15:00) and an SA A side will square off against Zimbabwe (12:00).

Smith, who boasts more than 50 caps for the Stormers, joins his franchise and second row team-mate Ruben van Heerden, who also received a call-up to the Bok squad earlier in the week. Van Heerden replaced the injured Salmaan Moerat.

Smith, who is renowned for his physicality, will add grunt to the Bok forward stocks.

He joined the world champions on Sunday, with the team to resume their preparations on Monday after spending the weekend with their families.

Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus and SA A team head coach Mzwandile Stick will announce their match-day squads on Tuesday, with the squad to depart for the Eastern Cape on Wednesday afternoon.
