Three persons who were under observation at the Nipah isolation facility at the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH), Kozhikode, were discharged on Friday (June 19, 2026).

All 14 contacts who had previously exhibited symptoms tested negative for the virus. The sample of a healthcare worker currently under observation at a private hospital was collected on Friday for testing.

The Nipah patient remains on ventilator support at the MCH. A total of 104 people remain under monitoring, with no new additions to the contact list, according to a press release.

Health workers conducted house-to-house surveillance in 56 more homes in Ward V of Ramanattukara municipality. The District Control Room handled 88 public enquiries and remained in contact with all those under monitoring, while the District Mental Health Programme extended psychological support to 118 persons.

Meanwhile, a seven-member National Joint Outbreak Response Team (NJORT) arrived in Kozhikode to support Nipah containment efforts. The team, led by Rameshwar Sorokhaibam, Joint Director of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), held a strategic review meeting with District Collector M.S. Madhavikutty.
