A team of Chandigarh police on Tuesday (April 21, 2026) reached the Delhi office of Madhu Kishwar, noted writer, a day after she was booked for alleged circulation of forged and misleading content on social media.
Chandigarh police on April 21 registered First Information Report (FIR) against Ms. Kishwar among others, following a complaint by a city-based resident. The Police registered the case under various sections, including 196 (criminalises acts that promote enmity, hatred, or ill-will between groups based on religion, race, language), 336 (1) (forgery) and 356 (criminal defamation), of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, besides sections 66 C, D and 67 of the Information Technology Act.
