Eleven persons fell into a pit at an under-construction SRA building in Mumbai’s Bhandup (West) late on Thursday (April 23, 2026) night. One person died, two were admitted to hospitals, and eight were discharged after treatment.

The incident took place at Metro Mall near Janata market. The pit belonged to a building being constructed by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority. Persons from the Matoshri marriage hall fell into it. The Mumbai Fire Brigade received a report at 10.23 p..m. on April 23. Police, a 108 ambulance, and ward staff also reached the site.
