Congress President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, on Thursday (August 6, 2026) hit out at the Government accusing Home Minister Amit Shah of not being ready to give a statement on the police action against student protestors on July 20. Rajya Sabha Chair CP Radhakrishnan directed Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju to convey the Opposition’s demand to Mr. Shah to make a statement in Parliament on the police violence on protestors on July 20.
The Lok Sabha passed the The Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, on Thursday (August 6, 2026). The Bill seeks to amend the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, the Income-tax Act, 2025, and the Finance Act, 2026.

The Rajya Sabha will consider the Appropriation (No.3) Bill, 2026. It was approved by the Lok Sabha earlier. The legislation authorises the appropriation of money out of the Consolidated Fund of India to meet the amounts spent on certain services during the financial year ended on the 31st of March, 2023, in excess of the amounts granted for those services and for that year.
