After repeated adjournments minutes into the session, both Houses were adjourned for the day on day 2 of the Monsoon Session of Parliament on Tuesday (July 21, 2026). The Parliament will reconvene at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (July 22, 2206). The proceedings in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were marked with continued uproar and sloganeering with Opposition demanding discussions on the NEET paper ‘leak’ issue and the police crackdown on the Cockroach Janta Party-led protest and proposed Parliament march in New Delhi on Monday (July 20, 2026).

Ahead of the day’s session, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi along with some Opposition MPs met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, urging him to allow a discussion in the House on the “brutality unleashed” on students and the government’s “complete lack of accountability” for the examination crisis. AAP MPs in Rajya Sabha, including Sanjay Singh, were seen outside the Parliament premises raising slogans and protesting against the crackdown.

As per listed agenda, the Centre was likely to table the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, in the Rajya Sabha, in a move to grant statutory protection to the National Song Vande Mataram. Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha was scheduled to take up the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, for consideration and passing.

Mr. Gandhi also met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla earlier today, seeking a discussion in the House over the “brutality” on students.

    “Modi ji has not even apologised for what happened yesterday. The youth are protesting against the education and testing system. The whole country knows that the education and testing system is hollowed out by termites. Why is the Prime Minister silent? He should apologise to the students and stop this nonsense of thrashing students,” he told reporters.
