A comedian and actor has passed away at the age of 42 after a battle with cancer. Blue Bloods star Alex Duong died in the early hours of Saturday, March 28, according to reports. He was in St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica and contracted septic shock leading to his death, a close friend of his family, Hilarie Steele, confirmed to TMZ.

Alex was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer, alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, after suffering from severe headaches which presented behind his eye. His diagnosis saw him begin an aggressive treatment schedule to try and combat the disease, but it continued to advance.

Hilarie previously set up a GoFundMe campaign in an attempt to help Alex on his journey to regain sight he losrt during his battle. However, following his death the campaign is now taking donations to help support his wife Cristina, and their five-year-old daughter Everest.

A post on the page reads, "We are overwhelmed with gratitude — because of you, we have already reached the original goal. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

"At the same time, with Alex passing, Christina's situation has become more serious and the financial needs ahead are much greater than we could have anticipated. Alex's memorial service, Everest 's education needs, ongoing care, daily support, and what lies ahead for his family mean we must continue raising funds beyond this initial goal.

"If you’ve already given, thank you — truly. If you’re able to share or contribute again, it would mean everything right now.

Alex was diagnosed with cancer early in 2025. Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer, had formed a malignant mass behind his eye. He went blind in his left eye due to the tumour and was left with over $400,000 in medical debt.

His gruelling chemotherapy treatment schedule and the poor prognosis did not stop him in his tracks, and he continued to do what he loved, performing for fans and advocating for himself as the disease progressed until his heartbreaking and untimely passing.
