Gianni Infantino has came under waves of criticism this summer following a controversial World Cup in North America, with PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi tipped to run for FIFA presidency

Nasser Al-Khelaifi will not launch a bid to succeed Gianni Infantino as FIFA president, despite calls from UEFA. The Paris Saint-Germain chief was touted to challenge at an upcoming presidential election for World Football next March.

Politico claim that executives saw Al-Khelaifi as a potential force to replace Infantino as FIFA head, following widespread criticism as a result of this summer's World Cup in North America - as well as the body's plans to sell portions of commercial rights.

However, Al-Khelaifi has no interest in entering the race to secure FIFA presidency. A source close to the 52-year-old told RMC Sport: "Nasser has absolutely no ambition, no intention, nor any interest in this role at FIFA. He will continue to quietly support all global and European football institutions."

It comes despite vocal opposition of FIFA's selling of commercial stakes from European Football Clubs, whom Al-Khelaifi is also chairman of.

However, sources close to the executive, who is also at the helm of the BeIN Media Group, have dismissed any rumours of him running next year - citing how his priorities are elsewhere.

It comes as Infantino will be difficult to succeed at next year's election, considering the support he is thought to receive from member associations across South America, Asia and Africa.

Regardless, UEFA will continue to dispute FIFA as they search for a fresh face for the ballot.

In a statement on Wednesday, the European governing body wrote: "Today we have learned of FIFA's deadline to associations to support their proposals or have the one-off payout offer withdrawn.

"This says everything you need to know about this plan.

"But having held discussions with many stakeholders across the game, UEFA knows there is significant and growing opposition to FIFA's scheme.
