Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry have been letting their hair down after the final major of the season

Rory McIlroy has proved once again that he knows how to play hard as well as work hard. That's after the six-time major-winner carved out some time to kick back on a European holiday alongside some of his closest pals and their families.

McIlroy and wife Erica Stoll headed off to the Mediterranean shortly after The Open at Royal Birkdale. They're enjoying a thoroughly deserved break following the most punishing spell of competitive golf in their calendar.

They were joined by Shane Lowry and his wife, Wendy, and their kids, as well as caddie Harry Diamond and his wife, Claire. Wendy shared snaps of the group enjoying themselves in Greece.

McIlroy has since been spotted making quite the detour, with the 37-year-old turning up at one of Europe's most iconic nightspots. The back-to-back Masters champion was caught on camera by a fan at a heaving Pacha nightclub in Ibiza.

Pacha is globally renowned as Ibiza's longest-standing super-club, celebrated for its lavish VIP atmosphere. McIlroy might be getting a touch old for the clubbing scene these days, but this is far from his first foray into that world recently.

He clearly knows how to have a good time. Last year, McIlroy was filmed partying at a beach club in Saint-Tropez following his first Masters victory.

Both McIlroy, alongside caddie Diamond, and Lowry participated in all four majors in 2026. McIlroy famously secured triumph at Augusta National in April to become just the fourth golfer to win two Green Jackets in a row.

Despite failing to match that level of performance throughout the subsequent three majors, McIlroy still banked a remarkable amount in prize money from his major outings. The Northern Irishman earned a total of a little more than £4million from majors alone this year.

Lowry's major campaign, by contrast, underwhelmed this calendar year. The 2019 Open champion displayed potential during the first three rounds at Augusta before faltering and never genuinely challenged the leaderboard at the remaining three tournaments.

Both players must now redirect their focus towards the final stages of the FedEx Cup season. However, McIlroy has openly acknowledged that the season-long tournament no longer sparks the same passion in him as it previously did.

"There's been years where I've given it maybe more of my attention [to the PGA Tour] and years that I haven't," he said. "I guess I'm just at a stage that I have other things that I prioritise.

"The PGA Tour is in a lot of flux at the minute with a lot of their schedule and structure and everything like that. It doesn't matter where you are in the top 30 going into the Tour Championship.

"I just need to be in the top 30 going in there to have a chance to win a FedExCup, so why would I care about the first two? I came to that decision last year, and I'm just doing the same thing."
