Aditya Agarwala, smallcase manager, CIO, InvestValue on Gold
“Gold is having its toughest week in months. Spot prices are down more than 3.5% to around $4,015 an ounce, the lowest since July 20, and Thursday alone took off 2.8%. On MCX, December gold has slipped below ₹1.42 lakh per 10 grams, more than 20% below this year’s peak of ₹1.81 lakh. Silver has broken below ₹2 lakh for the first time since December 2025.
Oil is driving this sell-off more than fear is. Brent is above $110 on fresh supply risks in the Gulf, and that has revived inflation worries. US data was already running hot, with September CPI at 3.7% and PPI at 6.3%. Markets now expect one more Fed hike before year-end. When rates are rising, an asset that pays no yield struggles, even when geopolitical risk is high.
In the near term, two events will set direction: the Fed’s October 27–28 meeting, where a pause is largely priced in, and next week’s PCE inflation data. $4,000-$3950 is the key support zone, and a clear break below it could extend the correction. The structural case is still intact, though. Central banks bought 289 tonnes in Q2 alone. For Indian investors, this is a time to add gradually, not to panic or chase.”

Oil shock drags gold and silver below key supports ahead of Fed meet: Renisha Chainani, Chief Research Officer at Augmont
· Price Movement – Gold and silver are on track for their sharpest weekly fall in more than four months. Rising oil prices have renewed fears that interest rates will stay higher for longer, and investors are holding back ahead of next week’s Federal Reserve policy meeting.
· Geopolitical Tensions – Oil jumped about 4% to a five-month high on Thursday after Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia raised fears of further disruption to energy supplies. Costlier energy makes it more likely the Fed will keep rates high for longer. That raises the opportunity cost of holding bullion, which pays no yield.
· Macro-Economic Signals – Attention now shifts to the Fed’s October 27–28 meeting and next week’s PCE data. PCE is the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge as it works towards its 2% target, so markets will be watching it closely.
Technical Triggers
· Short-term (10-15 days) - Gold has slipped below its key $4,000 (₹1,42,000) support, which leaves room for a further fall towards $3,950 (₹1,40,000). Silver has also broken its $54.5 (₹2,00,000) support and could ease towards the $50 (~₹1,80,000–1,85,000) zone.
· Medium term (2-3 Months) – Both metals are trying to build a base, gold around $3,950–4,000 and silver around $50–55. These are strong support and accumulation zones. We expect prices to hold here and then rebound 10–15% over the coming weeks. For the uptrend to resume, gold needs to stay above $4,200 and silver above $62

Morning market views from V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Limited
“Brent crude spiking to $114 is a major negative for the economy and markets. However, there are strong positives that can counter this negative. The sharp decline in the US 10-year yield to 4.96 % and the appreciation in the rupee to 94.70 to the dollar are positives that can restrain FII selling significantly. More importantly, more than Rs 3 lakh of the IPO money ( out of the Rs3.73 that has gone into the Jio Platform IPO during the last two days) will come back into the system after the allotment is completed by next Monday. This potential liquidity surge can lift the market next week. The market can move higher anticipating this in advance. It is important to understand that the rally, if it happens, will be led by the large-caps which are signalling resilience. The sharp correction in the broader market, particularly in small-caps, might continue since their valuations, driven up by liquidity rather than fundamentals, are hard to justify. Fairly-valued large-caps, particularly those which are growing well, present value buying opportunities for patient investors.”

Asian stock markets today: Nikkei falls 1.3%, South Korea's KOSPI down 1.7%
Asian shares fell on Friday as concerns over the enormous funding needs of AI hammered tech and led to the biggest daily rally in Treasuries in more than three years, with investors fleeing to sovereign bonds and safe-haven currencies.
Markets also sharply pared back expectations of further policy tightening from the Federal Reserve, stripping out almost a full quarter-point rate hike for next year amid concerns a bursting AI bubble could derail the data-centre investment boom and hobble the US economy. A December rate rise is no longer fully priced, with the implied probability falling to 85%.
MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares excluding Japan fell 0.3% on Friday, bringing its weekly loss to 2.7% and marking a fourth straight week in the red. Japan’s Nikkei dropped 1.3% and was down a whopping 5% for the week.
South Korea’s KOSPI skidded 1.7%, on course for a 4.3% weekly decline, with memory chipmaker SK Hynix down 2.5% on the day. Taiwan’s stock market was closed due to a typhoon. - Reuters
