Domestic equity benchmarks traded higher at midday on Friday, led by information technology stocks, after a softer-than-expected US jobs report eased concerns over near-term Federal Reserve rate hikes and boosted risk appetite for emerging markets.
During the session, the BSE Sensex rose 655 points to cross the 78,150 mark, while the Nifty 50 gained over 200 points to trade at 24,378.15.

Broader markets were mixed, with the Nifty Smallcap 100 rising 0.23 per cent and the Nifty Midcap 100 adding 0.04 per cent.
Most sectoral indices traded in positive territory, led by Nifty IT, healthcare and realty. The Nifty IT index extended gains for a second straight session, climbing 3 per cent today. On the other hand, the PSU Bank index declined more than 1 per cent, while consumer durables and auto stocks also traded lower.

Bitcoin is trading near $61,500, up 2.3 per cent over 24 hours, while the global crypto market capitalisation has risen to about $2.13 trillion. The rebound followed weaker U.S. payroll growth in June. The economy added 57,000 jobs, compared with expectations of 110,000. This reduced concerns over an immediate Federal Reserve rate increase.
Institutional demand also improved. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded at least $263.9 million in provisional inflows on July 2.
Altcoins are participating in the recovery. Ethereum is near $1,709, up 5.7%t, BNB is around $560, up 1.9%, XRP is at $1.09, up 3.3%, Solana is near $81.24, up 4.1%, and TRON is around $0.317, up 0.2%.
Bitcoin has support near $60,000 and resistance around $62,100.
Our advice: Investors should avoid chasing rallies and use staggered entries with disciplined position sizing until Bitcoin clears resistance and ETF demand strengthens.

Bank of Baroda (BoB) has entered into a huge out-of-court settlement with the joint administrators of the collapsed UAE-based NMC Group, paying $600 million (approximately ₹5,700 crore) in a bid to avoid prolonged litigation, uncertainty and associated costs.
The public sector bank’s stock closed at ₹260.15 apiece, down 4.18 per cent (or by ₹11.35) on the BSE on Thursday. US Dollar heads for weekly drop as jobs data dims Fed hike bets
The U.S. dollar was on track for the biggest weekly drop in nearly three months on Friday, after a tepid June jobs report pushed back markets expectations for Fed rate hikes, providing some relief for the embattled yen.
Softness in the greenback continued in early Asian trade, with the euro hovering near its two-week peak at $1.1442. Sterling was also firm at $1.3361 and on track for a 1.2% weekly gain, its best in nearly three months.
The risk-sensitive Australian dollar fetched $0.6935 , set to snap a four-week losing streak. New Zealand’s kiwi traded at $0.5702, up 1.2% for the week.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of currencies including the yen and the euro, was 0.2% lower at 100.77 after a 0.5% decline on Thursday. It is currently down 0.58% for the week, the biggest weekly drop since early April. (Reuters)

Stocks made a mixed start to the Asian trading session on Friday after a lukewarm U.S. jobs report poured cold water on the prospect of an imminent rate hike from the Federal Reserve.
MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan fluctuated between gains and losses, edging up 0.1% after two consecutive days of declines.
South Korea’s Kospi weighed on the regional benchmark in sympathy with sharp falls in chipmakers in U.S. trading. S&P 500 e-mini futures and Nasdaq e-mini futures were both up 0.1%, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 was down 1%.
U.S. job growth slowed sharply in June and payroll gains for the prior two months were revised lower, according to data released on Thursday, pointing to a cooling labour market. The unemployment rate dropped to 4.2% last month from 4.3% in May as workers left the labour force, pushing the participation rate to the lowest level in more than five years. (Reuters)
