Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Shinde said five rounds had been fired during the incident, but the actor was safe

NEW DELHI: Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde met Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff at his residence on Sunday night after a firing incident in Mumbai's Juhu area, assuring the actor and his family of the state government's support.

Photographs from the meeting showed Shroff with bandages on his arm and dressings on his shoulder and chest.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Shinde said five rounds had been fired during the incident, but the actor was safe. He added that Shroff had sustained injuries to his left hand due to gunpowder and glass shards, while his driver was injured in the incident."This is a major incident... five rounds were fired, but fortunately, he was safe.

His driver sustained injuries, and the incident is condemnable. I met with the actor; he has injuries on his left hand caused by gunpowder and shards of glass. Both he and his mother are quite shaken... I have assured them that the state government stands with them in the face of the open threats being directed at public figures... No form of threat will be tolerated," Shinde said.Shinde visited the actor to enquire about his well-being after reports of gunshots being fired while Shroff was leaving a football club on Sunday evening.

His mother, Ayesha Shroff, was also present during the meeting. Actor Disha Patani later arrived at Shroff's residence.Shinde vows action against threatsCondemning the firing, Shinde said the state government would not tolerate attempts to intimidate public figures and assured the Shroff family that the authorities would take necessary steps to address the threat.

Drawing a comparison with the gang-related violence witnessed in Mumbai in the 1990s, the deputy chief minister said the police had brought such activities under control and vowed to prevent their resurgence."Such gang wars were quite common in the 90s, but the Mumbai Police put an end to them in 1995... These attempts to intimidate people will not be tolerated, and we will put an end to this hooliganism," he said.Shinde's visit came amid concerns over the firing incident, with the state government assuring the actor and his family of its support. The police have maintained that Shroff was safe and had not suffered any gunshot wounds.
