Roasted green tea is one of two exclusive flavours coming our way for a limited time.
Starbucks has always been keen to reach as many customers as possible, and one way they’ve been doing that is through their “Chilled Cup” range.
Sold at stores around the country since 2005, the range has given us a lot of flavour combinations, and now there are two new varieties joining the lineup for a limited time this autumn.
▼ The White Chocolat Latte and Hojicha & Tea Latte
The White Chocolat Latte, which takes its inspiration from Starbucks’ popular White Mocha, combines a hit of coffee with the richness of white chocolate for a very creamy, dessert-like drink. The depth of flavour in the coffee is said to balance out the sweetness for a harmonious, well-rounded flavour.
The design is just as enticing as the flavour, with imagery on the cup evoking the rich, meltingly sweet flavour inside, and splashes of purple giving the cup a luxurious feel.
The Starbucks Hojicha & Tea Latte is made with 100-percent domestically produced hojicha (roasted green tea). Sweet and creamy, the toasty notes from the hojicha give the drink a rich, fragrant flavour, with black tea added for a bright, aromatic accent.
The packaging here incorporates an autumn-leaf-inspired colour scheme and Japanese motifs to reflect the traditional hojicha flavour inside, while metallic embellishments add a shiny finish to catch the eye.
To make a moment of the drinks, Starbucks recommends enjoying the White Chocolate Latte with a chocolate chip cookie, as the contrast between dark and white chocolate enhances the richness of both.
For the Hojicha & Tea Latte, Starbucks recommends pairing it with a tuna and cucumber sandwich, saying the crisp cucumber and creamy tuna work to complement the roasted flavour of the tea.
Richer drinks like these are perfectly timed for cosy autumn days, and they’ll be available at a recommended retail price of 230 yen (US$1.45) at stores nationwide from 8 September.
